It should not take a head injury

*after personally sustaining a head injury & coma*

to figure this out...

A Satirical Blog

*(utilizing articles discussing facts)*

By:  Susan MeeLing

After the head injury caused a coma while I learned how to deal with the headaches, migraines, cognitive disorders, memory problems, and other medical conditions I went from College Algebra with Trigonometry & Calculus down to 2nd grade math.  Here is how logic works for someone like me::

~  It took awhile for the doctor's recommendation to use sticky notes, to help remember.

~  It took several months to realize sticky notes moved, let alone to remember to speak with the doctor.

~  After I finally remembered to ask the doctor about the note problem, notebooks were recommended.

~  When I could remember to pick up a notebook, it took a long time to learn similar to sticky notes, notebooks are not always where they were placed.

~  After I was able to organize the notebooks over several months I still had not learned notebooks are not always readily available, at the necessary time.

~  When I remembered to speak with the doctor about the notebook problem the doctor had few other suggestions, to assist memories better.

~  After several events and adding up sticky note and notebook location problems, I realized my skin goes everywhere I do.

~  Wanting my tattoos to only be for me and not for public consumption I started the ink on my legs, able to hide easier.

~  It would not be until many tattoos and several years later I would realize my memory problems were usually not as bad when wearing shorts, capri pants, or a skirt.

~  Between 3-5 years after my first tattoo I had the first tattoo completed on my arms, and my memory has slowly progressed towards an easier memory jolt.

When I say "it should not take a head injury to figure this out" it is partially in humor from personal experiences, towards understanding.

If I can laugh at my mistakes after recognizing and dealing with them, so can you.

You have the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom I lack in order to put everything together to fix the problems seen with abilities I do not have.

Utilize the information within the blog to find genuine repairs and instead of complaining of the "hurtful" commentary, prevent the issues from reoccurring.

Then again, it should not take a head injury to figure that one out.

An additional set of points in reference to veterans this Veterans Day and all days

Before updating on my journal blog The Ornery PSA written in the link which a few additional points were added to my original writing from years prior, I have a few other points which possibly could assist.

Since most civilians have thought since around the timeframe of the Korean and/or the Vietnam war times that the veterans should adapt to the civilian feelings through covering up the reality of what they survived, in my opinion is when the portions of which the general population could have chosen otherwise. Instead the need for the civilians in various areas to force the veterans to adapt to being able to speak with prettier words and describe the situations in nicer terms, is a part of where the Participation Trophy Syndrome (not an actual doctor terminology though I am coining the phrase as well as #PTS for such reference aspects) began and became a problem for the general population. Though there is the known aspect of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD some of which is founded because of the stress it has taken to overcome what occurred while on post and the disorder of which in the civilian sector needed to have a classification label for, was then overtaken by such for certain situations which were not nor would be considered as stressful to most who have survived their times when in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

Thus since so many prefer the three lettered acronyms for meanings, possibly hypothetically for the civilians who did not overcome real obstacles and/or who wanted attention in a negative manner instead of a positive manner; the #PTS fits more accurately, because it actually takes quite a bit more than some would know to sign that proverbial dotted line to devote one's life, blood, sweat, tears, and limbs to be able to keep themselves and others safe for the overall better outcome. Why is it the military guys should ever have had to soften themselves for what they actually experienced, survived, and did in order for civilians to find them to be acceptable and yet not ever truthfully doing so? Why is it so many civilians who have claimed they support the military though talk about such with such demeaning terminology, yet if it were not for the soldiers of the many generations such freedoms to even speak for certain individuals would not be allowed? If you do not believe me, look at the laws in other areas for different groups including the differences between the sexes and how such are able to and not able to speak. Though there are many countries which have evolved over time because of the strength within one person and/or a smaller group of people took the initiative for to strive for the better, it always begins with that one little spark to ignite the fires within the larger group for the betterment to be seen and known for more to come forward for the betterment to take shape in a greater way.

There was a well known soldier who once lived who had earned the most amount of medals and ribbons named Audie Murphy of which because of his ingenuity, perseverance, gumptions, tenacity, strength, and quickness to assist in many areas and ways during the second world war of which an Army yearly competition event was named after him because of such; while the military branches of the United States of America's Armed Forces had progressed further, it seems as though the civilian population in certain areas refused to step up to the proverbial plate. Whereas soldiers of each branch were mostly inspired by such heroism, it seems as though certain civilian sectors only looked down upon those who put forth the effort to overcome exceedingly great obstacles towards the successes for themselves in their own personal achievements though also the successes which promoted others to elevate themselves higher for the better.

In such in that timeframe and since then, there have been how many who have competed and earned their way to achieve such an award? As the #SAMC (Sergeant Audie Murphy Club) began in 1986 and later began to spread across for more to be interested and involved for the military branches to see the inspiration through the portions of which not only his intellect to assess situations quickly to move forward swiftly and put himself in dangerous positions not to cause harm though to save others from harm, unknowing of the amount of dangers surrounding him until much later and with a nonchalant attitude which was misunderstood as arrogance though was simply because he knew he survived. Thus the amount of individuals who survived because of his actions and his records of achievements surpassed what any expectations had ever been of him or of any other soldier throughout up to that point in time, which sparked the beginning of a newer view much needed for not only the military branches and divisions; though also for the civilians who genuinely appreciate such actions of valor and integrity, for the forward movement of society not just in the military sector though also in the civilian sector.

There are many reasons as to why, the award and the club began as many throughout the military branches and divisions did not look at him in the same way some had who did not understand what mental alertness it took along with the physical strength and fortitude to persevere. Almost as though there was a quiet set of battles forming the time for a war amongst the civilian sector and the military sector of which law enforcement, fire department, and EMS would be caught in the crossfire between the two and those groups moving closer towards the side of the military for the overall genuine understanding and knowledge with comprehension of different aspects of not the exact same though much in similar backgrounds in different locations of as seen in reference to the lives matter movements; it feels to me now in 2020 on Veterans Day 11 November 2020 as though such battles and skirmishes to boil towards a revolution in a non-officially declared war of the two sectors in the United States of America has come to a head.

I cannot count to the number of times I defended the military, law enforcement, fire department, and EMS individuals just as I cannot count how many times I have defended civilians who had no direct connection to such organizations; as I could see many sides to the proverbial coin, in the references of. However when taking a proverbial and metaphorical step back to look at when the round about times of the PTS of the Participation Trophies began being more accepted among the civilian sector is where I think there were certain portions of which flooded into the military branches and divisions because of the fact each soldier is a civilian before becoming a soldier of whichever branch, which in turn is where the situations began getting more and more out of control.

The aspects of when Desert Storm began and the after effects thereof is when I believe many more in the military began to notice a problem, without knowing or having a name to call such specifically. Though many have joked about the Participation Trophy aspects, in certain regards I do not think they knew in full of how sometimes there is a lot more truth behind those jokes than realized. A big difference is when the events of 11 September 2001 occurred and a revitalization to the country's patriotism had gone into effect, though in some ways a bit out of touch as there were those of the military who knew it was not all who were radicalized in the reference to the Muslim aspects. There are those who believe in the Quran's teachings though in a modernized view point, rather than the older texts of aeons ago. There are also those who have seen and dealt with the radicalized portions of well before the attacks on 11 September 2001, and not only in reference to the United States of America's Armed Forces though throughout the world.

In regards of such while it is important to pay attention to punish those who are the ones causing the problems, it is also important to acknowledge not all are to blame for each aspect. I repeat then President Ronald Reagan's quote: "We as a society should not blame society for the criminal's behavior. Rather we should hold the individual law breaker accountable for the crimes they committed, instead."

In turn and with such while it is important to acknowledge a team's effort in regards of a joint set of workings together, it is also important to acknowledge the portions of which each main person of such times for such successes. Thus in some ways admittedly a bit of a Participation Trophy, if in which the entire group is successful; otherwise it then goes to the one individual who brought such successes forward, to create groups for furthered continued successful progress and awards for such in their own ways. Look at the portions in which the military awards medals and ribbons for individual actions of particular standout soldiers and the highest award being of the Medal of Honor as well as the newer award for overall achievements in regards of the Audie Murphy Award #AMA, for such purposes for progress and achievements.

There are civilian awards for such as it is known, though obviously some may not have paid as much attention to such. In turn the portions of which the civilian sector has had to learn in certain regards while their feelings are important for them to deal with just as each veteran/active duty/national guard/reservist to deal with and overcome what realities they have endured, it is not in my opinion for the military to adopt such policies to have the lowered expectations of which certain civilians have pushed onto their thought processes. Military individuals are trained to give their all in each scenario as best to their ability and to tone down or turn off, is not something they were trained to do nor should be something they should be forced to do wrongly.

Instead of going against the military strength, why not learn positively from what they have done? I acknowledge not every person is meant for such military service, however it does not and has not meant there cannot be good things learned from to adapt to situations for the betterment of oneself and others cares about and cared for. As there has been quite a few who did not take a moment to think about such just as there are those who have, in my opinion there are many aspects of the military which have been adapted into the civilian sector without the civilian sector possibly realizing such. Thus, why be so against?

There is a thin line between love and hate though realistically I wonder if that thin line is where some may have been envious or jealous in a bad way, compared to the aspects of taking such ideas not for the worst but for the better in a subconscious way without recognizing such previously possibly. For example since many are into Pop Culture and celebrities, is it possible to see in bigger events where the way events occur are similar to military positions for movement? Another example in reference to rallies, can the same be said about the maneuvering of crowds in larger areas? Is there a possibly in looking to when using a microphone instead of yelling, such could be seen as the bugle call of revelry? Maybe even the most anti-military individuals can see the portions of which the military aspects, have actually influenced their own movements. Is it possible to see if in a larger aspect in regards of sports for movement along the court, in comparison to the movement of regiments? Or am I the only one, who saw that?

Thus as Veterans Day is coming to the end of the 24 hour cycle, such does not end for the veterans themselves. It is important to give them their time absolutely, though it is also important to keep in mind the aspects of which the abilities in this era are because of what they had done to ensure the sanctity of the United States of America and the Constitutional Rights thereof. While yes there are portions of which veterans need to adapt which their training teaches, though they should not have to fully change to suit the feelings of those who they have protected; whereas those in my opinion who were protected because of their choices to do what was needed, should be more open to understanding as they want others to be towards their feelings.

Believe it or not, military/law enforcement/fire department/EMS people have feelings too. They have learned how to channel such in various ways with the training they have endured to focus such to overcome, and they should not be shamed for achieving what they have accomplished. Instead there should be inspiration seen for further progress to grow to inspire more to aspire to achieve for better results in their own individual lives, as well as the lives of those they care about. While intellect is important, so is common sense. Common sense for situations surrounding Audie Murphy, is one of the reasons among several others as to why he survived and achieved as much as he had.

I will end this particular journal blog entry with a quote from my ex-father-in-law which is a military quote:

Piss Poor Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Audie Murphy did not have that problem, obviously.

The ultimate measure of an individual is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where they stand at the time of challenge and controversy.

We must reject the idea that everytime a law is broken society is guity, rather than the law breaker.

Freedom is never-more than one generation away, from exinction.  We do not pass freedom on through our blood stream because freedom must be fought for, protected, and handed on for the next generation to do the same.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

It should not take a head injury to figure this out, because you are smarter.
