#I35 #Southbound #Collision

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

I do not recall the exact date of this as it was late at night but past midnight because I had #insomnia annoy me so much while I was in #Addison #Texas when at a #ComfortSuites hotel after looking for my house, which I found that weekend in #Carrollton Texas. After trying to go to sleep and could not I had packed my belongings into my car to drive from Addison towards #SanAntonio, leaving around 2:30am for the several hour drive. There were many #semitrucks on the road which those who drive late at night and/or are semi-truck drivers know, that is when the majority of semi-trucks are on the road; or at least at that time in 2008. I have written a letter to a few people in the state of Texas to inform them for if it is necessary for me to explain anything and again, if needed please forward to law enforcement agencies in the state of Texas and those who would need my #testimony if necessary. As I had passed through #Hillsboro and was going towards #Austin there were many more semi-trucks on the road than before as that is the area where #Dallas are of 35 and #FortWorth area of 35 conjoin, which means there are more drivers on the road of highway 35. As I was approaching closer to #Georgetown from the Hillsboro area or just passed that area there were around 15 to 20 semi-truck #tractor #trailers on each side of the highway going #southbound in each lane, as I drove along side of the large number of semis.

Looking ahead I saw multiple rear four-way flasher lights start to flicker which caught my attention and as I saw those same truck lights have their brake lights light up, I assessed the situation I was in. Knowing there is a greater need for stopping distance in comparison from the #VW #Beetle I was driving and the other semi-trucks on the highway, I knew the decision had to be made quickly. As the semi-truck in front of me hit the brakes, I swerved into the middle area between the two lanes going south, and drove along the dotted line. When I looked back in my rearview mirror I saw the semi-truck I was behind had jack-knifed and the semi-truck behind me, had the nose just a few inches from where the trailer was of the one which was jack-knifed.

I thought to myself, “Well the irony of driving a #Bug as I would have been squished like one, if I stayed there.”

As I drove forward to the front of the area I saw a semi-truck trailer against the concrete median, which people being helped out. The trailer part was against the concrete and the rig portion was a dark burgundy color, which people were being helped to the left whereas to the right lane was a different semi-truck. That happened to be an overturned dump truck which was facing on coming traffic, the back end was twisted onto the back, and the cab portion was on its side; with the passenger side on the ground for that cab portion. I reached for my cellphone to call 9-1-1 and tried to tell the female operator where the location was, for the help needed. I remembered when looking north though on the southbound side, there was a billboard with a yellow smile face. There was a ramp which was nearby that sign but the way it was made, it was completely and only concrete like material for the side of the ramp without any grass. The other side of #I35 highway was an open field going north, with a different billboard sign along that way. I did not see any mile markers in the area, but I tried explaining to that female 9-1-1 operator of where everything was. When she did not understand me there was a male semi-truck driver who was taller than me with longer hair on his head in blue jeans, and that was when I handed him the phone to tell the female 9-1-1 operator where the location we were in had been since he knew the highway better than I.

After I handed him the phone explaining I saw the people walking away from the semi-truck against the concrete median and I yelled to the people "turn off the engine, it's smoking!" which one of the males helping the couple out of the cab ran and returned to the vehicle to turn off the engine, and get the keys. Seeing there was smoking coming from the other engine with a male standing on top of the driver side door I ran over to the other semi-truck, which had been upside down and facing on-coming traffic while smoking profusely and spewing chemicals each way. I approached quickly and asked the male on the top of the driver's side door which was twisted and tangled from the collision. “What’s needed.” He said “The driver is still in there, and I can’t reach him.”

I slid into the broken glass window to unbuckle the semi-truck driver's seatbelt while turning the engine off, to then get underneath the semi-truck driver who was unconscious at the time. I told the male on the top of the door to "grab the driver's shoulders and pull on the count of three" which after I counted off the numbers he pulled and I pushed, getting that semi-truck driver out of the turned over cab. After the semi-truck driver was being propped up on the side of the cab I pulled myself out of the cab after having gotten the keys and/or wallet for the driver to hold onto, and the other male and I fireman carried that semi-truck driver to behind the back part of my yellow VW Beetle. I opened the trunk to my car, got a bottle of Lipton tea with lemon to hand to the driver of the overturned truck, and assisted him to call the only phone number he knew to leave a message for his family and told them what I could of the area and the situation. I did what I could to keep that semi-truck driver awake and alert, despite him going in and out of consciousness.

When the other semi-truck driver had who had my phone told me the female was not listening to him on the phone with the directions, I took the phone and explained again to her as the semi-truck driver said the female kept wanting to talk with me instead of doing her job to get the help necessary. I told her one more time where the collision was and to get #EMS and #Police out to the scene immediately and then I hung up the phone since she said she “wanted to talk” whereas I told her “the semi-truck driver needs actual help and not to talk but get the guy help”.

When I hung up the phone from the 9-1-1 call as it had been over a ten to fifteen minute call to explain the need between the original call I made, to handing the phone to the semi-truck driver and then back to me; I handed the male who I had helped out from the wreckage to dial the phone number he knew to call his family. When he fell unconscious again I took the phone from his hands to speak on the message system to then explain to whomever would get the message, of the situation. Though he was spitting out blood in combination with some of his teeth as he was sitting and leaning against the back of my car, I did what I could to prevent him from choking on his blood and choking if he had accidentally swallowed a tooth. I was doing what I could to keep him conscious as well, and the energetic aspects I did what I could to help. Several minutes passed before the Emergency Medical Services arrived to then be told by one of the EMS males (tall, lanky build, blond hair, different uniform than the other EMS workers where theirs were blue fully his was a white shirt) who told me “You need to leave and get out of here” which I asked him “Are you the Police? Since you aren’t when the Police arrive and they tell me to leave, that will be when I go.” That blond male tried to tell me to leave a few more times which I refused, and then the semi-truck driver was taken to the ambulance.

The semi-truck driver who noticed my light blue shirt with rainbows and unicorns on it was getting holy in the back because of whatever chemicals were pouring out from the engine where I had helped to get the driver out from the overturned dump truck were eating through the fabric, he asked if he could be able to wipe my back down. I looked back and saw the shirt was getting holy and the driver had baby wipes to clean my neck and back from the chemicals and the blood, all over me. From the top of my head down to my shoes were the blood and the chemicals which I wiped the more sensitive areas as the other semi-truck drive wiped my neck and arms as well as my back. When a female news reporter walked up to where we were she asked if she could ask a few questions as she handed me a microphone, which hurt my hands. I had to switch which hand held the microphone a few times as she asked me questions which the only question I remember now is “Did the #Army teach you, what you did?”

I remember I laughed nervously because I did not know how to tactfully explain but I said “No, the Army did not” and the female took the microphone from my hands before I could finish explaining anything further. She walked away and shortly afterward a Police officer showed up to tell me to leave, but I asked “Are you sure you want me to leave Officer? I was here to help and if you need information, I know you need to ask me.” He shook his head as he said “You need to clear out and get moving, so other people can go.” I asked a few extra times but he told me to leave, so I did. When I returned to San Antonio my now ex-boyfriend ‘Cactus Jack’ AKA Jeffrey Kuykendall Jr met me at the garage door surprised I was back early, and I went upstairs to check on my son and my daughter. I then went to the shower to get cleaned up and realized I could not put my clothes into the wash because of the amount of blood and holes all over my light blue V-neck rainbow with clouds and unicorns t-shirt and my dark blue jeans with then after returning, blood covered sneakers.

I told ‘Cactus Jack’ AKA Jeffrey Kuykendall Jr what happened and he laughed saying “That’s such a funny joke” and I said “I wasn’t joking about anything I just told you, that actually happened.” He laughed at me saying “You couldn’t pick up a semi-truck driver” which I said “I didn’t pick him up, I pushed him out of the cab. There is a difference between picking someone up and pushing someone up, you know.” He did not want to listen to the rest of what I had to say and a few months after moving into my Carrollton house with my children as well as ‘Cactus Jack’ AKA Jeffrey Kuykendall Jr though by the time this occurred, he no longer lived at the house.

I had received a phone call on my cell phone from a female which left a voicemail who had told me she wanted to thank me for helping her dad or her uncle, and I was so stunned and taken aback because I did not know what I did that was such a big deal beyond what she said; I did not know how to handle the situation. It scared me because I was unsure of the different aspects of what she said as I felt though I would come across as mean for saying “You’re welcome for saving his life” and not that I was not glad he survived and they were able to connect, I was so uncertain of how to not come across as arrogant after the way the news media interview had gone. Though also with the issues at the McCoy Elementary School having been growing in Carrollton Texas, that was weighing heavily on my mind; and another aspect which I had no idea of how best to handle everything going on.

I was not attempting to come across as rude and I was not trying to evade anything, however if the people who were involved with that particular accident and in specific the family of the semi-truck driver I had assisted would like to speak with me; I am back in the state of Texas. I guesstimate when I wrote my first two books there was someone who read what I wrote and knew what I had referenced in such, of that evening on 35 in #Texas. The message system on my website is available as well as the phone number if wanting to talk and/or set up a meeting, if I am wanted.
