A Poem: The 2009 USS/USNS General Hoyt S. Vandenberg

There I saw the Vandenberg that long ago was sunk

I knew that situation from the Drill Sergeant and the bed bunk

I descended down to the depth of the Atlantic

What I saw upon that day a lot of tears I wept

The many upon that vessel all of those years and decades before

My SCUBA Diving taught me ever so much for my beginning core

I saluted the American Flag as I continued to descend and ascend

I knew in my heart the severe amount of work of much to mend

Ass my fins carried Me, My feet touched the ground

There it was what I sought I had found

The vast abysmal area I saw so much

There I leaned over for my camera to touch

I took a picture of the land that I had stepped upon down

Then when I looked forward to see the menacing frown

The teeth were long, large, and sharp of what that beast was poised

I reached for my knives trusty before and then began the noise

Its growl was fierce it was massive and I so small trying

Its speed ferocious as I stood and began to see upon the ground

I was accurate in My guess and too late to call for help

To assist Me I only had Myself, my knives, and as I swung I yelped

There were more that came as I fought to keep and the land was safe

The words are difficult and yet the truth is Bobo knows his place

The others I call different names per types of merpeople

They stay in the waters far from the shores on land because of the backing of we the people

I let them know there were more vicious than I upon the land

There they stay far away from us below the beaches made of sand

Afterwards there was my watch to see as I began to ascend

Upwards towards the boats and there to avoid the bends

I timed three minutes to then nine for me to just swim

However that point in time that day the others were there on a whim

I lowered my head so weary and exhausted

Through such a victory for life and over such dread

The coast was clear for then along the west and the east

I began my ascent to above having defeated that beast

I saw the broken remanence beautiful to this day

Even though just now a memory of what I could not then in that year of 2009 say

The many times I attempted to warn the many

There is was to the boat upon the shining sea

The time of surface interval to snorkel the waters

I pondered so much and sought the lands of my founding mothers and founding fathers

Then back to the USA and there the American Flag

Upon the land and upon the staff

Stepping upon the land of the United States of America such a grace and happiness to see

Such lovely human beings and florals above the grounds for me
